In 1970, I began 2 years of service with the United States Army. During that time, I served voluntary tours of duty in the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Vietnam.
Upon returning home, I served for 5 years as a professional staff member of the US House of Representatives, House Appropriations Committee, Foreign Operations Subcommittee. After 5 years with the Committee, I left the Hill and began a long and rewarding career in the residential real estate industry in my city, Washington DC.
Over the decades, I built my business from the ground up. Early, I made the decision that anything that I could do to help improve our communities would benefit us all. As President Kennedy referenced in several of his speeches, “A rising tide lifts all boats.” I came to understand that we, as business people, have a special responsibility to give back to those communities that we serve.
Giving back and investing in our communities is not just monetary; your time and dedication are required. Over the years, I have served on the boards of many local schools and community organizations, including as a founding and current board member of the Capitol Hill Community Foundation. In our business community, I have served as President of the Washington DC Association of REALTORS®, President of the Capitol Hill Association of Merchants and Professionals, and Vice Chairman and current Chairman of the Capitol Hill Business Improvement District(BID).
I am an unabashed cheerleader of life in Washington DC - specifically on Capitol Hill. Along the way, I met my wonderful wife here on the Hill, and we have raised two fabulous children here. Real city kids, they are both continuing their careers in other East Coast urban areas.
I still get inspired every morning as I travel around the Hill and see friends and neighbors going about their lives, all determined to make our urban neighborhoods even more wonderful places to live. Let me bring that energy and passion to help you and your family.
